Jim Weaver, the CEO of Cutting Edge Steel, has been involved in Misc. Metals Fabrication since 1997. He started working in steel fabrication as a fabricator, was promoted several times within the first year, and broke out on his own in 1999 and has been an owner ever since. He has experience with various sized Misc. Metals projects up to $6.5 million in steel fabrication. Jim and his team concurrently manage several large projects in different stages of completion while meeting or exceeding expectations for safety, quality, efficiency, and schedule.
Dave Vanderbeek, MBA
Chief Operations Officer
After leaving active duty in the U.S. Army in 2004, Dave began his career in ornamental iron and landscaping on the west coast as a designer and salesman. Shortly after, he shifted his focus completely into steel construction. His background includes estimating, project management, business development and organizational development in structural and miscellaneous metals. Dave has a M.B.A. from Regis University and is focused on organizational performance leadership throughout his studies. His current focus is on leading CES’ team in implementing a learning organization approach to integrating education through communication and a systems thinking mindset to develop a ‘one system, one team’ culture.
Jim Butler, CSI
Chief Sales Officer
A graduate of “Western Colorado University” and a life-long student of steel product manufacturing and fabrication. Jim had a passion for metalcraft from a young age, growing up in the shop everyday after school. He has held executive roles in both sales and operations for both national and international manufacturing companies, and for several years toured the country educating design professionals on proper design, specification and classification of emergency egress stair systems. Jim served two terms as a board member of the “Rocky Mountain Steel Construction Association”, was a prior committee member of the “National Association of Architectural Metal Manufacturers – AMP 510” and has been a member of the “Construction Specifications Institute” for over 20 years.

Brianna Watkins, SHRM-CP
Director of Human Resources
Brianna has a background in resource management, statistical analysis, and payroll and joined the team at Cutting Edge Steel in 2014. She has maintained several positions within the company from receptionist to office manager and currently takes on an additional role as company culture ambassador. Brianna’s goal is to develop and strengthen human resources functions in a way that will best serve our employees and customers while making a positive impact to the organization. Brianna enjoys serving people within the company as well as in the community. She also serves as a ministry leader for her local Celebrate Recovery youth program, helping teens find freedom from their hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
Director of Projects
Andy started his career with Cutting Edge Steel as a driver and painter in 2008 and has grown along with the company, currently leading our project team as senior project manager. He spent time as a parts processor, welder, and purchaser before transitioning to project management in 2012. Andy has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin. His focus has been on improving scheduling and management processes to maximize efficiency and productivity within the company and for our customers.
Director of Logistics
Stephen is an experienced logistics manager with a passion for culture and helps to champion our focus on the diversity of people at CES. Stephen’s daily focus includes 100% on time delivery, preventing shipping quality issues and ensuring his teammates strive to succeed in all they do. Stephen’s hobbies are golfing, camping and spending time with his family. He and his wife spent two years working abroad for the Department of State, in Moscow Russia, completing security installation projects. While abroad Stephen enjoyed traveling to Vienna Austria and Athens Greece.
Director of Estimating
Nathan Britz has over 20 years of experience in the steel industry with projects ranging from Chicago to Denver. During his time in the industry he has successfully filled the roles of estimator; sales manager; and project manager on projects in the commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. At CES, he is focused on accurate and on time estimates that meet CES and customers’ expectations. Nathan holds a B.S. in Political Science from St. Cloud State University. In his free time Nathan enjoys spending time with his family and playing tennis.
Alicia is an experienced senior detailer with a demonstrated history of working in the construction industry. She is skilled in AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Fabtrol, Advance Steel and her core industry scopes include metal fabrication in structural and miscellaneous steel, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and account management. Alicia has a B.A. with focus in applied management from National American University.

Robert has over 23 years in the miscellaneous metals industry and is proud to have provided the state of Colorado and 14 other states with our works. Roberts greatest personal accomplishment was fabricating the rail and boardwalk for famous Hanging Lake. Robert notes that he is no relation to the new England Patriots owner as he’s the ultimate Broncos fan! Robert values faith and family and enjoys mountain biking along Colorado’s front range when he’s not at work.

Briton has over 39 years of construction experience and entered into the fabrication industry in 1984 as a structural draftsman. His wide range of experience includes structural engineering, general contracting, structural fabrication and extensive time at three well known stair fabricators. Briton has been involved in some of the most high-profile projects in the region including DIA’s original construction, Mile High Stadium’s original construction, CSU Stadium’s original construction and upgrades to Folsom Field and most recently the United States Olympic Museum.
